Bio:

Tracy Thorne’s most recent play, JACK WAS KIND, was produced Off-Broadway at the Irish Repertory Theatre and, also, nominated for a 2023 Drama Desk Award. When the play was produced virtually during lockdown by AFO, the NY Times called it, “a devastating monologue of timelines and Greek drama intensity,” and one of the 10 best solo shows. Her play, WE ARE HERE, received its world premiere at New York Stage and Film and was nominated for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize. WE ARE HERE was also produced at Contemporary American Theater Festival. Other plays include QUICK BRIGHT THINGS, TRUE LOVE, A RIDICULOUS TRADE, THE NATURE OF THINGS, GOOD CHILDREN and DO I EVER CROSS YOUR MIND?. Tracy’s plays have been produced/workshopped/developed in New York and around the country at Manhattan Class Company, Irish Rep, The Cherry Lane, SohoRep, Rattlestick, All For One, The Lark, Page 73, WP Theater, New Georges and South Coast Rep–to name a few. Her plays have also appeared on the Kilroys list and been finalists for numerous awards, including the Susan Glaspell Award and Leah Ryan’s FEWW. Tracy is a recipient of the Elizabeth George commission from South Coast Rep and has been a member of the SohoRep Writer/Director Lab, Page 73’s Interstate 73, as well as a playwriting fellow at The Lark. Her work is published by Concord and DPS. Tracy has written a screenplay called NATURAL HISTORY and three TV pilots: LUCY LIVES UPTOWN, IRIS and HOME. She has a TV adaptation of the novel DEAR MONEY currently in development at SONY. So too, she’s worked as an actor in New York and London, collaborating with directors such as Matthew Warchus, Phyllida Lloyd, Anna Deavere Smith, Tony Kushner and, also, she’s appeared in some movies and on TV. Tracy studied History at Smith College and is a graduate of The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. She lives in Harlem USA with her family.
