COROMANDEL
Synopses:
COROMANDEL (2M, 1w) – An American law student signs up for a winter break volunteer trip to assist a naturalist in New Zealand. He arrives to find that only he and one enigmatic researcher will be living in a small cabin on the remote peninsula of Coromandel. Both men attempt to document the activities of the abundant wildlife around them, but instead find themselves increasingly losing the difficult battle to suppress their private and very troubling pasts.
Bio:
Nicholas Johnson is a playwright from Oakland, CA. His plays include The Other Town and Coromandel (EST/LA New West Playwrights’ Brunch Reading Series). He is a founding member of EST/LA New West Playwrights and has served as the literary associate at the Geffen Playhouse. Most recently Nicholas worked as the writing assistant on Big Sky, written by Alexandra Gersten-Vassilaros and directed by John Rando, at the Geffen Playhouse. He is a recipient of the James Pendleton Foundation Award in Academic and Artistic Excellence. He holds and MFA in Playwriting from UCLA.
