Paulo Tiról

PAULO K TIRÓL is a composer, lyricist, and bookwriter from Manila, Philippines. He was the recipient of the inaugural Benjamin Indick Award for lyricists and bookwriters in 2021, a Dramatist Guild Foundation Fellow from 2019 to 2020, and an artist-in-residence at Access Theater from 2018 to 2019. His projects include music, lyrics and book for On This Side of the World (NAMT Festival 2020, Prospect Theater Co.’s IGNITE concert series, Access Theatre, Musical Theatre West’s Festival of New Works in Long Beach, CA, all dir. Noam Shapiro) and Called (DGF Fellows showcase, dir. May Adrales); and orchestrations for Felix Starro (Ma-Yi Theater Co.). His work has been commissioned by Prospect Theater Co. (Notes for Now, 59e59 Theatres) and Rattlestick Playwrights Theater (Gen Speak), and featured at Joe’s Pub, Barrington Stage, and more. Alongside writing musical theatre, Paulo is also an award-winning composer of choral liturgical music, with work published by Oregon Catholic Press. He lives in Jersey City, NJ with his husband Jeremy. Training: Ateneo de Manila University, Berklee, NYU’s Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program (full-tuition scholarship), BMI.
