Joel Meyers

Joel Meyers is a Seattle-born, New York-based actor most recently turning time and saving the Wizarding world as Albus Potter in the Broadway company of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. On film, he can be seen navigating dark spirits and the 90s’ Satanic Panic in Carry the Darkness, and soul-searching through the streets of New York in Call Me Crazy. He also makes a guest appearance in the Amy Poehler-produced Adult Swim (HBO) comedy series Three Busy Debras. In the long run, Joel aspires to add the roles of writer, director, and producer for the stage and screen to his passion for
performance.

A 2021 mid-pandemic graduate of Columbia University, Joel holds BAs in both Theatre and Astrophysics, and a few Latin letters to boot (Summa Cum Laude, Junior Phi Beta Kappa). Favorite credits at Columbia include Stupid Fucking Bird, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo & Juliet, Godspell, Peer Gynt, Translations, and the time-honored Columbia Varsity Show. He was also honored to receive the 2021 Austin E. Quigley Prize for Artistic and Intellectual Excellence in Drama.

As a writer, his work has made recent splashes in the Immersive Theatre world as a Co-Creator (and sometime performer) of Candle House Collective’s Lennox Mutual, a long-form, episodic, one-on-one experience over the phone which has received critical acclaim from the New Yorker as well as an enthusiastic and dedicated Reddit fanbase. From time to time, Joel also fights monsters in the closet as Danny in CHC’s other award-winning telephonic thriller, CLAWS. As the CHC System Architect, he has broken ground in the remote immersive world as the creator and keeper of the secrets behind their proprietary backend system that keeps all things operational and uniquely interactive for audience members both new and returning.

When not on the stage, the set, or the phone, Joel puts his Physics education to use as the Co-Founder of Hyperspace Tutors, where he enjoys helping students further their interests to become life-long learners. In the rest of his not-so-free time, Joel can usually be found playing soccer, rock climbing, and humbly serving the every whim of his cat.
