Don was last seen on Broadway as Doc Brown in the National Tour of BACK TO THE FUTURE: THE MUSICAL. Before that as Bill O’Wray in The Roundabout Theatre’s production of TROUBLE IN MIND, Hubert Parchester in ME AND MY GIRL, and in The D’Ysquith Family in A GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER. He starred as Leo Bloom in the Tony award-winning Broadway production of THE PRODUCERS, and before that played Victor in the Tony award-winning revival of PRIVATE LIVES. Don created the role of Charles Clarke in the Tony award-winning Broadway production of TITANIC and later returned to the show where he played radioman Harold Bride. Also on Broadway, he created the role of Renfield in DRACULA and he played Leo Frank and Mr. Peavy in the original company of PARADE, created the part of Bingo Little in BY JEEVES, played Hertz Kleinman in ROCK OF AGES, and appeared as Frank Lippencott in the revival of WONDERFUL TOWN at Lincoln Center. He also recently appeared as Jabberwocky and Dr. Butridge in the workshop of ALICE BY HEART.
Don directed the Off-Broadway THE JERUSALEM SYNDROME at the York Theatre. He also starred Off-Broadway as Sid Davis in TAKE ME ALONG at Irish Repertory Theatre and Anatoly in Tim Rice’s revised production of CHESS. His other New York credits include Fidele in DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY (Roundabout Theatre), Bo Decker in BUS STOP (Maverick Theatre), Zach in THE TAVERN (Equity Library Theatre), and Abe in YOUNG RUBE (Musical Theatre Works). Don performed in St. Petersburg, Russia in the play LOVE OR THEATRE?: THE LIFE OF CHARLOTTE SALOMON, which was produced by the Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center.
Among his regional credits are John Adams in 1776 (Paper Mill Playhouse), Coleman in TRADING PLACES (Alliance Theatre), Bingo Little in BY JEEVES (Pittsburgh Public Theatre), Jack in WHERE’S CHARLEY (The Kennedy Center), the title role in SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE (Theatre Factory of St. Louis), Henrick in A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC (American Stage Festival), Jim in THE GIFT OF THE MAGI (Actors Theatre of Louisville), Herman in THE MOST HAPPY FELLA (Theatre Under the Stars and Pittsburg Civic Light Opera), Max in LEND ME A TENOR (Barter Theatre), and the title role in HAMLET (Clarence Brown Theatre). Recently Don directed the Goodspeed Opera House’s production of THE WILL ROGERS FOLLIES.
He can be seen as Patrick in the film LITTLE BROTHER, first place winner at the Metroland Film Festival, and in the film IT HAD TO BE YOU. Don can be heard on the recordings AN O’HENRY CHRISTMAS (Harbinger Records) the original cast albums of TITANIC and PARADE for RCA, and BY JEEVES for The Really Useful Group. He sings the role of Nicely-Nicely on the London recording of GUYS AND DOLLS, reprises his role of Frank Lippencott in WONDERFUL TOWN, and plays Herman on THE MOST HAPPY FELLA all for JAY Records. On television/film he can be seen in FBI: MOST WANTED (CBS), LAW & ORDER: SVU (NBC) as Alan Hubert, DECEPTION (ABC) as Walt Wipply, THE AMERICANS (FOX) playing the role of Jeremy Bosch, HAPPY as the role of Emil, played the role of Admiral Hood on TURN (AMC) and David Jordan on the soap ANOTHER WORLD for (NBC), and has appeared on THE GOOD WIFE (CBS), GLEE (FOX), CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM (HBO), UGLY BETTY(ABC), NOW AND AGAIN (CBS), ALL MY CHILDREN (ABC), AS THE WORLD TURNS (CBS), LAW AND ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT (NBC), LAW AND ORDER (NBC), LAW AND ORDER: SVU (NBC), POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS (Showtime), and a WOODY ALLEN FALL 2017 PROJECT. His performance of Bingo Little, in the Alan Ayckbourn /Andrew Lloyd Webber production of BY JEEVES, was filmed by Really Useful Films/ Tapestry Pictures Inc. Don is married to actress Emily Loesser and they have four children.
