Synopses:

Balikbayan – After the loss of his mother, Filipino-American immigrant Alvin returns to the Philippines to learn more about his birthplace and to find his estranged father. During his trip, he meets a sharp boarding house lady, a lonely 8-year old boy, and a handsome nurse, who show him what it means to be “home.” This is a story of three queer boys finding love, acceptance, and a new chosen family. 

Bio:

CHRISTOPHER REYES (he/they) is a Filipino-American performer and writer. He received a BA in Theater Arts from Drew University with a minor in Communications and Film & Media Studies. 

His plays are often inspired by stories of his upbringing in the Philippines and his subsequent experience of immigrating to America. He was chosen as a Writing Fellow at The Playwrights Realm during the 2019/20 Season, where he developed first full-length play, Balikbayan, which was then presented as part of the INK’D Festival of New Plays.
